Living in Bristol:

Bristol

Bristol is a lively city surrounded by beautiful countryside towns.  The coast is nearby, although don’t expect Cornwall beaches!

Bristol has a good mix of culture, so you should find something that interests you whatever your taste.  You have the Clifton suspension bridge and the SS Great Britain to see, or if you'd rather there is good shopping, with locations all across Bristol including Broadmead and Clifton Village.

Transport links are excellent, day and night.

Students

There are numerous clubs in Bristol that are frequently visited by the city's students, as well as events arranged by the Student Union. The harbour area has been redeveloped and now has restaurants, pubs, shops and many floating venues for students and locals to enjoy.  The most popular areas for students at night include Park Street, Whiteladies Road, the City Centre, the Triangle and Gloucester Road.  These areas also have shops and supermarkets.

University of Bristol: Bristol is not a campus university, with buildings spread over the Bristol city centre, in what has become known as the precinct.  The largest estate investment programme in the university’s history is currently underway, with £200 million of projects due to be completed by 2016.  The university estimates that private rentals cost in the region of £3,900 – £4,600 per academic year, excluding bills.  A university bus service connects the Stoke Bishop halls of residence to the precinct. Undergraduate students receive an annual bus pass upon arrival at the university.  Bristol Temple Meads is the closest station to the university, roughly two miles away. It runs regular services to London, the south coast, Wales.  There are two bus services, 8 and 9, which run every ten minutes from the station and stop outside of the university

UWE: The main campus is only four miles from the centre of Bristol in Coldharbour Lane.  Ulink inter-campus service connects the Bristol campuses with the city centre. Students can buy an annual pass, a three-term pass or a monthly pass.  The closest train stations are Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood. Each station runs services from a number of major cities.
